The Boston-based brewer, Samuel Adams, has recently used Facebook to “crowd-craft” its newest flavor of beer. Facebook users can vote for certain aspects of the beer including the color, clarity, body, malt, hoppiness, and yeast. Sam Adams will use the results from the voting to create their next beer, which will be unveiled at the South By Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, TX.

I’m not sure if the general public has enough working knowledge of brewing to create a delicious-tasting beer, but that’s not really the point. Whether the beer turns out good or not, this is an awesome example of social media marketing whereby the brand is involving its consumer base in the direction of the brand. What are some creative examples of crowdsourcing or consumer engagement you and your company have used through social media? Comment below!
